Sarah's Two Nativities
Sarah loves her two grandmas – Grandmother Azar and Grandmother Maria. Grandmother Azar tells Sarah stories from the Holy Koran, while Grandmother Maria tells her stories from the Bible. At Christmas time, Sarah snuggles in each of her grandmothers' laps and listens to two nativities stories about the birth of baby Jesus. They are the same in some ways, and different in others ... but both can be Sarah's favourite.
A heartwarming celebration of Christmas, family and faith from author Janine M Fraser and illustrator Hélène Magisson. Read by Jamila Rizvi.

About 80% of the Children's Literature industry is White...In 2018, more children's books that featured an animal main character were published (27%) than children's books featuring a Black (10%), Latinx (5%), Native (1%) or Asian (7%)child.
At LITTLE BLACK LIBRARY, we understand that “When children cannot find themselves reflected in the books they read, or when the images they see are distorted, negative, or laughable, they learn a powerful lesson about how they are devalued in the society of which they are a part.”
Out of resistance to this reality, the idea for Little Black Library was born!
In Australia, it can be hard to source books that feature characters of colour or show traditions, beliefs and practices of other cultures. Not many titles are readily available on the shelves of our major retailers, and if they ARE available, we don't always know the authors and titles to search for.
Little Black Library is our small contribution to the diverse books movement - a curated Website, dedicated to books with black and BIPOC characters for ALL little readers, no matter their background!
